During his expedition, Gary focused on a particular reef in central WA. While the top of the reef seemed promising, he soon discovered that venturing further away was met with interference. This interference was mainly due to heavy mineralization caused by the runoff from the ironstone in the area.

Captured by The Prospectors Patch, Mr. Tomasovich dismounted his bicycle and retrieved his handheld detector. “Approximately 80 meters away from the reef, I received a strong and promising signal. Diving 2 1/2 feet below the surface, I discovered a remarkable 1100-gram nugget,” he enthusiastically declared. “My heart instantly raced with excitement. It’s always a thrill, especially following a few disappointing dry spells.”
After thoroughly cleaning the nugget, it registered a weight of 1076 grams. The streak of luck didn’t end there. “Accompanied by a friend, we scoured another region in the eastern goldfields of Western Australia. Unfortunately, after an arduous six days, we had nothing significant to show for our efforts,” Mr. Tomasovich shared.

To my delight, I stumbled upon a nugget weighing a hefty 340 grams, along with a few smaller fragments. Satisfied with my findings, I returned to camp, but my mind kept wandering back to that remarkable patch of land.
Driven by curiosity and a hunch, I finally succumbed to the persistent thoughts and ventured back to the creek bank. The terrain consisted of rich loamy soil and gravel, creating an ideal hunting ground for hidden treasures. As I carefully scanned the area with my detector, a faint signal caught my attention.
With determination, I began the arduous task of digging deeper into the ground. Every scoop revealed more soil and gravel, intensifying my excitement. Suddenly, at a depth of three feet, my detector started emitting a loud, piercing sound. Eager to uncover the source of this newfound excitement, I dug another six inches, and there it was before me – a magnificent 997-gram specimen.
At the current market value, this kilogram of gold would fetch an impressive sum of approximately AUD$54,373. The immense value of this discovery only adds to the allure of the land and fuels my desire to uncover even more hidden treasures buried within its depths.
