Once Gerry Turner realized his love for Theresa Nist on “The Golden Bachelor”, he saw no need for a prolonged courtship. At 72 years old, the retired restaurateur valued every moment and didn’t want to waste any. Therefore, it was not surprising when he proposed to Theresa, who is 70, on the season finale of the show. They quickly set a wedding date for January 4, just five months after their first meeting.
An insider exclusively revealed to Life Style that Theresa and Gerry were incredibly excited to get married. They consider themselves lucky to have found each other, especially knowing how difficult it can be to find love later in life. Both Theresa and Gerry, along with their families, are thrilled about their upcoming union. They believe that their forever is starting right now.
The wedding took place at the picturesque La Quinta Resort Club near Palm Springs. The color scheme of the wedding included soft shades of pale pinks, whites, and creams with gold accents. Theresa personally selected the classical compositions that the four-piece string orchestra played during the event, which Gerry described as “very elegant but not stuffy.”
However, the couple, who both lost their first spouses and have children and grandchildren, were not overly concerned with the details of the wedding.
“Gerry and Theresa were at the venue all week, preparing with the team, and the staff kept joking that the Golden Bachelor and his fiancée were a lot less diva-like than what they’re used to!” says the insider. “No bridezillas here!”
It was truly a time to celebrate.
Ready for the big day? Gerry and Theresa’s families, of course, were the main members of the wedding party. Meanwhile, their officiant was none other than the beloved Susan Noles, known for being a fan favorite on Golden Bachelor. “The happy couple came up with the idea because we became so close during the show,” explained the 66-year-old, who runs Nuptials by Noles, a wedding officiant company in Philadelphia. “I’m really glad they did.” Most of the other Golden women were also present, as were Bachelor Nation success stories Trista and Ryan Sutter, Jason and Molly Mesnick, Desiree and Chris Siegfried, as well as former lead Ben Higgins and Bachelor in Paradise bartender Wells Adams.
After exchanging vows, the couple embarked on a romantic honeymoon in Italy before continuing their search for a new home in Charleston, South Carolina, and New Jersey. Theresa expressed the importance of living life to the fullest and making the most out of every second, as they are unsure of how much time they have left.
