Spoiler Alert: The following contains spoilers from episodes 7-9 of Love Is Blind season 6.
While Kenneth Gorman and Brittany Mills seemed like a match made in heaven on Love Is Blind, there were behind-the-scenes moments that led to their breakup that fans didn’t get to witness.
Brittany, 25, and Kenneth, 26, immediately hit it off in the pods and were one of the first couples from season 6 to get engaged without seeing each other. Despite minimal drama, especially during their romantic getaway to the Dominican Republic, the couple showed great promise.
However, things went downhill when they returned home to Charlotte, North Carolina, and tried to merge their separate lives. The issues surfaced when Kenneth seemed glued to his phone, and they struggled to find common ground when it came to physical intimacy and public displays of affection. Eventually, they made the heartbreaking decision to end their relationship in episode 8.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Kenneth explained that the main reason for their split was time—it just wasn’t on their side. Despite their deep emotional connection, the couple realized they couldn’t say “I do” to one another due to their differences.

Netflix featured a story where a middle school principal named Kenneth opened up about his deep connection with Brittany and the tough decision to walk away from their relationship just days before their wedding. Despite his love for her, he realized that their feelings were not in a place where they could say “yes” to each other. Kenneth admitted that he sensed the split coming as he felt things were not quite right between them. His inclination to process things internally, rather than expressing himself openly, played a part in their breakup. Through this experience, he learned the importance of not retreating but being more vocal about his feelings.

According to Brittany, she and Kenneth decided to end their relationship because they were not growing together as they had hoped. She mentioned that although it may seem sudden, after returning from their time in the Dominican Republic, they felt like they were drifting apart in their day-to-day lives. Brittany emphasized the importance of internal thoughts and not being reactive, allowing the experience to play out naturally without jumping to conclusions.

Reflecting on their time together, Brittany clarified that their breakup was not due to Kenneth’s phone usage, which had been a topic of discussion during filming. She understood the demands of his career and the responsibilities he had, which influenced her perspective on the matter. Meanwhile, Kenneth acknowledged feeling ashamed of his behavior on camera but explained that he was not intentionally being disrespectful.

Regarding the silent moments between them in the Dominican Republic, Brittany explained that both she and Kenneth were reflecting and taking time to process their thoughts. Despite appearing awkward to others, they were simply being introspective and taking things one step at a time. Now that they have parted ways, only four couples from season 6 of Love Is Blind remain engaged.
