“Laugh Out Loud: The Hilarious Moments of the 1000-lb Sisters”

The biggest appeal of 1000-lb Sisters lies in the sisters’ unfiltered sense of humor. Here are the top 10 hilarious moments from the show.

Season 5 of 1000-lb Sisters tackles more serious issues such as Caleb’s death and Amy’s divorce, but amidst the heavier moments, there are still plenty of laughs. The top 10 funniest moments of the show include the sisters’ hilarious high tea experience, their wild bachelorette party, and their entertaining Halloween costume shopping adventures. Despite the challenges they face, the Slaton family finds joy in lighthearted moments like pool exercises, fart jokes, Wild West photo shoots, and trying out unconventional workout tools.

Amy Slaton-Haltermаn and Tаmmy Slaton rose to fame after starting their YouTube channel in 2014. Their authentic and unapologetic personalities resonated with viewers, leading to their discovery by TLC. They never pretend to be something they’re not and have no problem embracing their true selves, flaws and all. It’s these qualities that have made 1000-lb Sisters so popular among fans.

The series expanded on what the sisters showcased on their YouTube channels by incorporating their entire family, which only added to the show’s appeal. Season 5 of 1000-lb Sisters delves into more serious energy compared to previous years. The weight of Caleb Willingham’s death hangs heavy, making Tammy’s frustrations as a newlywed even more devastating.

Amy is also going through her own struggles, having recently divorced her husband, Michael Haltermаn, after the birth of their youngest son. Amy slipped into a deep depression, and fans recently learned that she was a victim of financial abuse perpetrated by Michael. While there are still moments of joy and laughter, they are no longer at the forefront of the drastic life changes happening within the Slaton family. As fans brace themselves for the emotional roller coaster ahead, it’s always helpful to focus on the positive. With that in mind, here are the top 10 funniest moments on 1000-lb Sisters.

Episode 1: High Tea on Mother’s Day

Season 3, Episode 3

There’s something immensely entertaining about a group of country girls playfully mocking high society. This delightful episode follows Tammy and Amy as they take their mother, Darlene Slaton, to a high tea event for Mother’s Day.

From the moment they step into the charming location known as the Miller House in Owensboro, Kentucky, the ladies are full of jokes. They are greeted by Valerie Roberts, an etiquette teacher also known as The Etiquette Lady. Laughter ensues when Amy compares Valerie to Mary Poppins and jokingly suggests they might “break” her. In all fairness, they almost did. As soon as Valerie begins explaining tea-serving etiquette, Darlene interrupts her, declaring her dislike for hot tea. Both Tammy and Amy concur. The banter continues until Amy suggests Valerie tailor the lesson to their own personalities. The whole scene is fantastic, as these self-proclaimed country girls continue to poke fun at high society’s code of behavior while having a great time.

2 Amy’s Bachelorette Party
Season 1, Episode 5
Amy’s wedding to Michael Haltman took place shortly after she was approved for weight loss surgery in the first season. Worried about her health during the surgery, Amy wanted to have a complete wedding experience, including a bachelorette party. Tammy planned the day for Amy, and they were joined by their friend Angela. The party started with a wine tasting, where Amy opted for a personalized “pimp” cup instead of traditional wine glasses. Viewers had the joy of watching her get progressively intoxicated. The highlight of the party was when a male stripper arrived to perform for the ladies. However, his dance moves were less than impressive, and they kindly advised him to improve his skills while delicately slipping dollar bills into his underwear. Although awkward, the scene provided ample laughter, making one feel a little sympathetic for the rhythm-challenged stripper.

3 Amy and Tammy Shop for Halloween Costumes
Season 2, Episode 6
The Slaton sisters love getting into the Halloween spirit just like everyone else. In this episode, they decide to visit a local costume store to find their Halloween looks. Accompanied by Amy’s husband, Michael, and Tammy’s then-boyfriend, Jerry, they enjoy this little shopping adventure amidst growing suspicions about Jerry within the family. However, Amy and Tammy manage to break the tension with their humorous banter. The funniest moment occurs when Tammy spots a costume she likes, only to find that the largest size is far too small for her. This leads to a playful guessing game about which parts of her body could possibly fit into the costume. Eventually, Tammy concludes that she can only fit one whole toe into it.

4 Amy and Tammy Go to the Pool
Season 1, Episode 4
Amy and Tammy kick-start their weight loss journeys by following Doctor Proctor’s recommendation to exercise at the pool. They quickly discover that the water is an excellent option for them and enjoy some weightless splashes in their local pool. Being in the water makes them feel lighter, which leads to playful comparisons to various sea creatures. Amy playfully refers to herself as a dolphin while splashing, and Tammy humorously compares herself to a sea turtle.

5 The Fartial
Season 3, Episode 5
It’s hard to resist finding farts funny, and the Slaton family is no exception. This episode in season 3 features a particularly hilarious fart moment. Tammy was doomed the moment she asked Amy not to fart in a gut-busting scene. Amy needed a back massage but couldn’t reach the area with her arms, so she asked Tammy for assistance. Unfortunately for Tammy, this assistance required Amy to bend over in front of her, placing her behind directly in front of Tammy’s face. Things were going fine until they started making sexual innuendos, causing Amy to accidentally break wind in Tammy’s face, which naturally resulted in even more laughter.

Episode 8 of Season 3 of “The Slaton Family” showcased the family’s road trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. However, there was already some tension surrounding the trip due to Tammy’s unhappiness about not reaching her weight loss goals for surgery. To everyone’s disappointment, Tammy decided not to join the family on their vacation. Despite this setback, Amy was determined to capture a family photo of everyone together. She organized a Wild West-themed photo shoot, which the crew eagerly participated in, cracking jokes about their different shapes and sizes. The atmosphere was light-hearted and much-needed for the family after Tammy’s negative energy dampened their spirits.

Season 1, Episode 1
The first episode of the show “1000-lb Sisters” focuses on introducing Tammy and Amy as they embark on their weight-loss journey and consider surgery. In order to kickstart their new healthy lifestyle, Amy decides to order some exercise tools. She opens the box she ordered, mistakenly referring to one of the items as a pogo stick (which it isn’t), and discovers a Shake Weight. Shake Weights have been a source of humor ever since they first appeared on TV and in stores. It’s entertaining to watch them explore these different tools and try to figure out what they are. This scene also serves as a perfect introduction to who Amy and Tammy are.

Episode 8 – Amy and Tammy Get Pedicures
In this episode, Amy and Tammy go for pedicures, and it’s clear that Amy’s feet are in rough shape. A funny moment occurs during the confessionals when Amy explains why she doesn’t like wearing socks. She tries to express that socks make her feet feel claustrophobic, but initially struggles to find the right word. It’s worth noting that the pedicure outing leads to a big fight between Tammy and Amy, turning this initially lighthearted moment into a darker one. However, not all is lost in the episode. This particular fight results in one of the show’s most iconic lines, said by Amy: “I pay my bills, my bills are paid.”

Episode 9 – Meeting with Doctor Proctor
In the first episode, Tammy and Amy have their first meeting with Dr. Proctor. A memorable line is exchanged when Amy expresses her concern about potentially looking like Tammy after surgery, which catches Tammy’s attention. She throws some shade right back at her sister by saying, “You ain’t no prize.” If this line isn’t on a t-shirt already, they should definitely start selling them.

Episode 10 – Tammy Takes a Tumble
At the start of the series, Tammy was already at a weight where she couldn’t fit into a regular car seat. So, during their trip to Georgia to see Dr. Proctor, Tammy had to sit on the floor in the back with their luggage. The whole car scene is hilarious, with Tammy releasing farts while Amy laughs and her husband Michael drives. What makes the scene truly iconic, though, is when Michael takes a sharp turn while driving. Tammy is propelled forward along with some of the other items in the car. In a confessional, the two poke fun at Michael’s terrible driving, and Tammy jokingly claims he’s trying to kill her.
