In the midst of their televised wedding ceremony, Zanab passionately confronted Cole, expressing her deep disappointment, “You have shown me disrespect, insulted my being, put me under scrutiny, and worst of all, completely shattered my self-assurance.”
This article contains spoilers from the season 3 finale of “Love Is Blind”. It seems that love wasn’t blind for Cole Barnett and Zanab Jaffrey after all. On the show, they met, got engaged, and had a tumultuous journey. However, their love story had a dramatic ending when Zanab, aged 32, said “I don’t” to Cole at the altar. This decision came after numerous instances of disrespect, insults, and criticism from Cole, which shattered Zanab’s self-confidence. Despite her feelings for him, Zanab realized that love shouldn’t feel this way and made the difficult choice not to marry him.
Cole, aged 27, was blindsided and devastated by Zanab’s decision. He couldn’t understand why she had never expressed these feelings before and believed that she deliberately chose to hurt him in front of their loved ones. He felt deceived and considered it one of the worst experiences of his life.
While some fans may have been shocked by Zanab’s actions, she clarifies that there is more to the story than what was shown on the show. She stands by her decision and asserts that there is no communication or friendship between her and Cole currently. They didn’t leave their relationship with mutual respect or a foundation for a friendship.
Love Is Blind
Actress Raven Ross confesses that she was unprepared for the unexpected events that took place at the wedding ceremony. As Zanab mentioned, there were apparently many more incidents that unfolded between them. Viewers caught a glimpse of the drama during the season 3 reunion when Zanab claimed that Cole continuously tried to monitor her eating habits and even obtained another woman’s phone number before kissing her at his bachelor party. (Cole denied all of these accusations, but Zanab insisted that he himself had revealed the truth about the woman.)
Another issue in Cole and Zanab’s relationship was Cole’s family’s refusal to be a part of their Love Is Blind journey. This did not sit well with Zanab, especially since she had lost both of her biological parents.
When PEOPLE asked if Zanab believes things would have been different if Cole’s family had been involved, she confidently expressed her thoughts. She stated, “I genuinely believe so. Parents usually love me; I have a good rapport with them. I would have loved the opportunity to meet them, win them over, and maybe if Cole had the support of his family, things would have turned out differently. I did have the chance to meet some of his friends, and they expressed their admiration for me. I think when we were at our best, I brought out a different side of Cole, and perhaps we wouldn’t have ended up where we did. So, yes, I do think it could have made a difference.”
Despite everything, Zanab mentioned that she has no regrets about how her Love Is Blind journey unfolded on the show. She stated, “Cole was the person I chose, and he was the only person that mattered to me in that experiment. I’m glad he taught me what he did, and I’m grateful that I got to see his true self.”
