Sister Wives Season 18 was full of drama as Janelle Brown decided to end her almost 30-year marriage with Kody Brown. Unlike the past, each TLC star had their own moment on the couch to tell their side of the story during the reunion. In this season’s Tell-All, several shocking revelations came to light. According to Kody, Janelle’s fight with him was prompted by her supporting Christine Brown. Kody often speculates that his wives talk behind his back and trash-talk him. He loves playing the victim card. During the first part of the reunion, Kody begrudgingly admitted that he was envious of Janelle and Christine’s friendship since they behaved like how they should have for the last 25 years. Kody’s jealousy isn’t a surprise as he has always pitted his four wives against each other to gain his attention. Kody also revealed that he wished he had vetted his spouses before marrying them.
It’s not surprising that Kody has come to the realization that he would have done things differently when he first started courting his four wives. During an interview with host Sukanya Krishnan, Kody admitted that divorce can have a negative impact on one’s life. Season 18 was a difficult time for him as he tried to figure out what went wrong in his relationships. He also confessed that he was only ever “in love” with his fourth wife, Robyn Brown.
Kody acknowledged that he was too eager to embrace plural marriage and didn’t take the time to vet if his partners were compatible with him. He believes that the reason for his failed marriages lies in not starting out in love. However, it’s funny how Kody still refuses to take any responsibility for the breakdown of his unions. He believed that he could make up for any differences and that being in love wasn’t essential to a successful relationship. It seems that Robyn doesn’t agree with Kody’s version of events and thinks that he is rewriting history.
One interesting moment during the show was when Kody tearfully admitted to crying tears of joy when he first met Robyn. He described feeling a sense of safety and vulnerability he had never experienced before, leading him to weep for months. However, Robyn disagreed with his account, suggesting it may be a revisionist history on Kody’s part. In another revealing moment, Janelle spoke candidly about her physical relationship with Kody, while also stating that their lack of emotional connection was the real issue. Finally, Kody shocked viewers by admitting that he had to force himself to love his first wife Meri, and that their union was not based on genuine love.
