Fans were eagerly invested in the romantic journey of Sikiru “SK” Alagbada and Raven Ross during season 3. However, in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, SK himself reveals why he believes that the way their relationship was depicted on screen didn’t accurately capture their true story.
Raven and SK, a couple who found love on the popular Netflix show Love Is Blind, want to set the record straight about their unique love story. While the show highlighted their struggles with physical intimacy, merging their different backgrounds and cultures, and their contrasting perspectives on family, there was much more to their relationship that viewers didn’t get to see.
One of the main hurdles they faced was the skepticism from Raven’s friends regarding their long-distance relationship. SK had plans to move to California for his Master’s degree, which made them question the feasibility of their future together. However, despite these concerns, Raven ultimately chose to say “yes” to SK on their wedding day.
But what viewers didn’t witness was the surprising turn of events when SK confessed his love for Raven but couldn’t go through with marrying her. This revelation left both Raven and the audience shocked.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, SK sheds light on the discrepancy between their real relationship and how it was portrayed on the show. He expresses his regrets about the way their love story was depicted, explaining that important aspects were omitted in favor of focusing on other subjects and incidents. As a data engineer, he even admits that if he were watching the show as an outsider, he would be left with unanswered questions and gaps in their story.
Clearly, there is more to Raven and SK’s love story than meets the eye. The show may have overlooked many heartwarming and significant moments that shaped their relationship. Despite the challenges they faced, they want fans to recognize the depth of their connection and the true journey they embarked on together.
Raven and SK from the show “Love Is Blind” share their perspective on their early discussions about the potential of a long-distance relationship. Despite what was portrayed on the show, SK assures that they were always on the same page. He recalls their first conversation where he mentioned his upcoming grad school plans, and Raven didn’t have an issue with it. They both agreed to give long-distance a try, even though they knew it wouldn’t be easy.
SK also mentions that he has lived in five different countries, which has given him a global perspective on life. He acknowledges that there might be a possibility of having to relocate in the future, especially if they decide to have children.
Considering his background and future plans, SK hoped to find a partner who would be open to traveling with him. However, he completely understands Raven’s hesitation in immediately uprooting her life. He believes that love should lead to any destination, but acknowledges that they didn’t have enough time to reach that point in their relationship. Asking someone you’ve only known for 10 days to leave their dreams and pursue yours requires a tremendous amount of trust, which he feels they hadn’t developed yet.
In the latest episode, during their wedding, SK expressed to Raven that he wasn’t comfortable saying “yes” to her at that moment. He acknowledged the unique and complex circumstances they were facing and felt that it wasn’t the best time for them to proceed. This unexpected revelation brought tears to Raven’s eyes, even though she is typically composed and stoic.
In a confessional, SK further elaborated on his decision, explaining that he would have felt guilty entering into a marriage with Raven when there were still so many unanswered questions between them.
Raven, on the other hand, was completely taken aback by SK’s rejection. In an interview with PEOPLE, she expressed her surprise, stating that she was not portrayed as an emotional person throughout the show. She admitted that the whole experience was emotionally overwhelming for her, and she was unprepared for SK’s decision. Despite their strong relationship leading up to this point, Raven found herself in a state of shock and disbelief.
