Tammy Slaton from “1000-Lb. Sisters” Embraces Healthier Choices, Bids Farewell to Daily 8 to 12 Soda Consumption

1000Lb Sisters Tammy Slaton Reveals She No Longer Drinks 8 to 12 Sodas a Day

Ever since she rose to fame on the reality show “1000-Lb. Sisters,” Tammy Slaton has been on a mission to improve her lifestyle, starting with her soda consumption. In a recent TikTok video, Tammy revealed to her fans that she no longer indulges in soda as frequently as before. Gone are the days of drinking up to 12 cans a day, which she affectionately calls “sodies.” Now, Tammy has significantly cut back and only drinks about two 12-ounce cans a day, sometimes even less. In fact, there are days when she doesn’t drink any soda at all. Instead, she has embraced a healthier alternative and primarily drinks water.

Tammy also shared that when she does opt for something other than water, it’s usually tea, particularly diet tea or sugar-free Gatorades. Occasionally, she enjoys Crystal Light packets for some flavor variety. Nevertheless, her go-to drink is plain and simple water.

In the first season of “1000-Lb. Sisters,” Tammy and her sister Amy disclosed to a dietician that they used to consume an alarming amount of soda each day, ranging from eight to 12 cans. However, they specified that they only drank diet soda. Amy mentioned the curious advice their mother had given them in the past, suggesting that drinking Diet Coke after consuming sugar would negate its effects.

Overall, Tammy’s journey towards a healthier lifestyle involves making conscious choices when it comes to her beverage preferences, gradually reducing her soda intake, and prioritizing hydration with water as her mainstay.

Meet Tammy Slaton, the star of TLC’s show that debuted in 2020. At the beginning of her journey, Tammy weighed around 600 pounds, but she has since undergone a remarkable transformation. In the recent season 3 finale of “1000 Lb. Sisters,” which aired in January 2022, it was revealed that Tammy had checked into a rehab facility in Ohio and successfully shed 115 pounds. This significant achievement was followed by a gastric bypass surgery in September 2022, propelling Tammy further on her weight loss journey.

Speaking to People Magazine in June, Tammy shared her positive experiences post-surgery. She expressed her satisfaction with the decision to undergo the intense procedure, as it has resulted in improved lung function, allowing her to remove her tracheostomy tube for breathing. Additionally, her doctor cleared her to be off her oxygen machine during the daytime, limiting its use to only nighttime alongside her BiPap machine. Tammy diligently monitors her oxygen levels throughout the day and keeps her machine handy in case of any need.

Despite the challenges, Tammy remains grateful and optimistic. She recently opened up about feeling great and appreciating the progress she has made since her surgery. According to her, being alive is a gift, and she embraces the joy of constantly moving forward.

In September, Tammy also took to Instagram to share some of the dieting tips that have contributed to her sustained weight loss. She emphasized the importance of incorporating proteins, reducing carbohydrates and sugars, cutting out soda entirely, and practicing portion control. These mindful dietary choices have undoubtedly played a crucial role in Tammy’s continued success.

Tammy’s journey serves as an inspiration to many, and she continues to be open about her experiences, providing valuable insights and advice. With a newfound lease on life, Tammy is determined to maintain her progress and embrace her brighter, healthier future.
