Tammy Slaton, one of the stars of the show “1000-Lb. Sisters,” recently responded directly to a mean comment on social media. The commenter asked Tammy why she sounds like she can’t breathe and if she plans on getting her “gobbler” removed. In her video response, Tammy called the commenter rude and defended herself.
Tammy explained that she will get her “gobbler” removed when her doctors give the green light, as she hasn’t reached a point where her weight loss has plateaued yet. She expressed how comments like these make her feel insecure and emphasized that it’s not something she can control.
In the video, Tammy became emotional and wiped away tears at one point. However, she also expressed pride in herself for how far she has come. She acknowledged the hard work she has put into her journey and mentioned that she still struggles with feeling ugly, but believes she’s becoming more beautiful. Tammy also clarified that the reason she sounded out of breath in the video was because she didn’t want to wake up her sleeping family members, not because she can’t breathe properly.
Tammy’s weight loss story has captivated fans ever since the debut of 1000-Lb. Sisters in 2020. From tipping the scales at over 700 pounds, Tammy has triumphantly shed over 150 pounds to meet the criteria for gastric bypass surgery in 2022.
These pivotal moments in the Kentucky native’s life were vividly captured on season 4 of the TLC series earlier this year. With her remarkable dedication, Tammy has now surpassed the milestone of losing over 300 pounds from her heaviest weight. Now, in season 5 of 1000-Lb. Sisters, viewers get to witness Tammy’s journey as she eases back into everyday life after completing a weight loss rehabilitation program post-surgery.
In another video shared on the popular app TikTok, Tammy openly addressed a recent negative comment she received. She candidly admitted that the comment had deeply impacted her, stating that it had “touched the depression part of myself.” Despite this hurt, Tammy took the opportunity to spread a message of kindness, urging others to think before they speak. She emphasized the importance of considering the struggles that someone may be facing, as even a single unkind word could potentially lead to tragic outcomes such as suicide.
While Tammy wanted to emphasize that she herself was not feeling “suicidal,” she did want her followers to understand that she has been dealing with numerous challenges as of late. Tragically, in June, her estranged husband Caleb Willingham passed away at the age of 40. Although their relationship had reportedly been strained at the time of his death, the news deeply saddened Tammy and left her feeling heartbroken.
In July, she expressed her profound sadness as she announced the heart-wrenching news of her husband’s demise. Describing him as her closest confidant and cherished companion, she emphasized the profound bond they shared. She fondly remembered Caleb stepping into her life as a guardian angel, and now, in his absence, she believes he continues to protect and guide her from above. Out of gratitude for the support and compassion received from their families, she kindly requested that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
