“In this exclusive clip from PEOPLE, the 37-year-old confidently declares, ‘I’ve mastered those ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ dance moves…we’re all about that hot girl stuff.'”
Meet Vanessa Etienne, a talented Emerging Content Writer-Reporter for PEOPLE, who adds her unique perspective to the team.
It’s said that a family that dances together, stays together. And this couldn’t be truer for Tammy and Amy Slaton, as they embark on an exciting Zumba adventure in the latest episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters. Joining them are their siblings Chris, Amanda, and Misty.
With a good-natured laugh, Chris announces, “Today marks day one of our ‘get fit’ journey. Since we’ve all had weight loss surgery, it’s crucial that we stay on track. My amazing wife, Brittany, suggested we try out Zumba. And here we are, working on our beach bodies before our trip to Pensacola.”
Both Tammy, 37, and Amy, 36, admit that they have never tried Zumba before. “We’ll just have to go with the flow and figure it out,” says Amy optimistically. Tammy adds playfully, “Don’t worry, you’re about to witness it firsthand.”
As the class begins, the siblings find themselves struggling to keep up with the instructor’s moves. Nevertheless, they push through and make an effort to get their bodies moving. In her lighthearted manner, Amy jokes about her lack of rhythm, while Tammy chimes in, teasingly calling her sister “two left feet.”
Despite the challenges, the Slaton siblings showcase their determination and willingness to step out of their comfort zones. With each step taken in the Zumba class, they come closer to their fitness goals and, most importantly, strengthen their bond as a family.

“I actually really enjoy Zumba. It’s a lot of fun, even though we try our best to follow the instructor’s moves, sometimes we end up in a completely different spot,” Amanda jokes. “I’m like, wow, why aren’t my feet cooperating?”
“I can’t move as gracefully as I used to,” Misty adds.
Amanda also expresses her surprise at how well Tammy performed during the class.
“She was there, standing up and moving around. She was really shaking her body and grooving,” she says about her sister.
“I’ve got those amazing dance moves, just like in ‘Hips Don’t Lie,'” Tammy boasts. “I think Amanda and I had the best rhythm. We were getting into the hot girl vibe, living that hot girl life.”
