In the debut episode of ‘1000-Lb. Sisters’, Caleb Willingham is left heartbroken as he watches Tammy Slaton finally leave rehab after spending over a year there.
Tammy Slaton has some exciting news to share in the premiere of 1000-Lb. Sisters. She expresses her joy and happiness about her new husband, Caleb Willingham. According to Tammy, Caleb is the best thing that has ever happened to her. The couple recently got married and although they are currently in rehab, they are allowed to sleep in the same room, but not in the same bed for safety reasons.
Tammy shares that she and Caleb have been making tremendous progress together. They have been shedding weight and accomplishing their goals. Caleb has been actively walking, and Tammy is elated to share that she has lost about 300 pounds in under 15 months, weighing around 430 pounds currently. After achieving her goal, Tammy has successfully got her trach removed and has been allowed to head home. However, Caleb is still not able to get his trach out, and if he doesn’t, he cannot leave the rehab center with her. Tammy is very emotional about leaving Caleb behind and says that she can’t imagine walking out of there without him. Caleb feels like he has let her down, but Tammy assures him that she would never leave him behind. She tells Caleb that her weight had kept her from enjoying the world’s joys, and she is not mentally prepared to depart without him. As they say their goodbyes, Tammy expresses that meeting Caleb was the most incredible thing that ever happened to her.
Tammy urges Caleb to remove his trach and come home to her while Caleb expresses his desire to go home with her but not burden her. Caleb also shares his biggest fears of Tammy leaving rehab, feeling that it marks the last time he will see her, kiss her or hold her hand. Despite the challenges, Caleb recites a poem he wrote for Tammy before she leaves. Sadly, their marriage was brief as Caleb passed away at the age of 40 on June 30, 2023.
