Sam Wilson has revealed that he had been keeping a secret from his fiancĂ©, Citra, on the reality show 90 Day FiancĂ©. The secret was about his past struggle with drug addiction. Fans are curious to know whether the couple managed to overcome this obstacle and are still together, especially after Sam’s recent legal trouble.
But let’s start from the beginning and find out how Sam and Citra first met. Sam hails from Missouri, while Citra is from Indonesia. Their paths crossed on a dating app, which is where their story begins.
Sam shared his first impression of Citra, saying, “I found her attractive, but I didn’t immediately form an emotional connection.” However, their conversations flowed effortlessly, and there was some playful flirting between them. Eventually, Sam decided to take a trip to Indonesia, where he surprised Citra with a proposal. This marked the beginning of their engagement and their journey on 90 Day FiancĂ©.

Sam and Citra made their debut on 90 Day FiancĂ© in an episode aired on December 3, 2023. The episode focused on Citra’s arrival in the United States and her father, Herman, planning to visit for two weeks. Before Herman returned to Indonesia, Sam needed his blessing to marry Citra and they also wanted to have the wedding while he was present.

Sam revealed to Citra his struggle with drug addiction, explaining that he had been addicted to pain medication since the age of 15. The addiction made him emotionally distant and prevented him from having long-lasting relationships. However, he managed to get clean when he was 22 and had been sober for almost ten years at the time of filming. He admitted to a few relapses and stressed the importance of staying clean for his fiancée.

Surprisingly, Citra was unaware of Sam’s current legal issues stemming from a car incident with a coworker. Sam was caught with non-prescribed suboxone, a drug that helps with withdrawal symptoms. Due to the lack of a prescription bottle, he was arrested. Though offered a diversion program as an alternative to jail time, Sam missed the application deadline, putting him at risk of incarceration.

According to jail records obtained from Starcasm, Sam was arrested on March 27, 2023, and faced charges of cocaine possession, buprenorphine possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was planning to apply for a diversion program, which focuses on intervention for youths involved in the justice system. The charge of cocaine possession was dismissed, and the diversion was granted but awaited signatures by October 10, 2023. The case is still ongoing, with Sam’s next court appearance scheduled for January 26, 2024.

Aside from Sam’s past and legal troubles, he and Citra also faced challenges due to their different cultural backgrounds. Citra, raised in a strict Muslim household, required Sam to convert to Islam for her family’s acceptance. Additionally, her religious beliefs prevented premarital intimacy, which Sam admitted would be difficult for him due to sexual desire.

When Citra arrived in the U.S. on the December 10, 2023, episode, she was disappointed by the messy state of Sam’s home. To make matters worse, she learned that he might not qualify for the diversion program. However, the verdict would not be revealed until after their wedding.

Despite these obstacles, it appears that Sam and Citra are still together. Sam’s Instagram bio hints that they are married, and Citra frequently posts photos of them together on her account. In a tribute post on December 22, 2023, she expressed gratitude for Sam’s openness about his past and stated her desire to spend her life with him.
