Trevor Sova believes his Love Is Blind journey could’ve turned out differently had one major factor worked out in his favor.
During season 6 of the Netflix hit series, Trevor formed a strong connection with Chelsea Blackwell inside the pods. She ultimately became his number one, but the same couldn’t be said for Chelsea, who found herself torn between Trevor and Jimmy Presnell.
Eventually, both men were ready to propose to the 31-year-old flight attendant and event planner — and conveniently, on the same day. But as fate would have it, Chelsea’s date with Jimmy, 28, came first, so she ended up accepting his proposal and ending things with Trevor shortly after.
Now Trevor, 31, is opening up to PEOPLE and admitting he thinks the outcome might’ve been different had his date with Chelsea come first.
“I do, because I think the way it’s set up, whoever is freshest in your mind from the day before is who you’re kind of thinking of the most,” he explains. “So she just had a night date with Jimmy for about five and a half hours the night before. And then Jimmy saw her right away in the morning, and that’s when he proposed, and then it was me later in the day.”
“So I think if you switched it around, it could have gone either way,” he notes. “I’m not saying for sure, but there’s a possibility.”

Thinking back on the day Chelsea broke up with him, Trevor says he he “had zero indication” that she was going to end things.
“I walk in there pretty confident. I don’t know, I’ve never connected with a girl like I connected with her, so I was amazed that she felt she had a better connection with someone else,” Trevor admits. “When I walked in, and I don’t remember exactly what I said, but I was obviously excited to see her, and she was like, ‘Hey.'”
Based on Chelsea’s tone of voice, Trevor recalls thinking, “I was like, ‘Oh, she just got proposed to, didn’t she?’ And she said yes. I knew exactly what the situation was and it just shocked me. But I’m very proud of myself for how I handled that situation.”
Though he feels a sense of pride for how he processed their breakup, and would “do 99 percent of the things the same,” Trevor admits there is one thing he wishes he handled differently on Love Is Blind.
“I probably would share a little less information [with the guys] and kind of play the game more,” he shares. “I wasn’t thinking of it as a game. I was thinking like, ‘Oh, this is my person that I’m going for.’ And not necessarily that it’s a competition between people … because they could use that to their advantage.”

Chelsea is now engaged to Jimmy and the two jetted off to Punta Cana for a romantic getaway with the other couples. However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the pair, who got into an argument after Jimmy commented on AD’s fit physique at the group mixer and Chelsea took offense to that.
“It was so uncomfortable for me, and the fact that you weren’t reading the room made me really, really sad,” Chelsea said during episode 6 before breaking down in tears. “I didn’t feel loved by you. I sat there by myself after you commented on how great her body is … you made me feel uncomfy.”

Things between the two ended on a tense note and fans will have to wait until the next batch of episodes to find out if Chelsea and Jimmy can come to an understanding, or if the argument is too big for them to overcome.
