In an enchanting love story, Gerry and Theresa, aged 72 and 70 respectively, found each other during the debut season of The Golden Bachelor. Their journey led them to become engaged in the thrilling finale of November 2023. They disclosed on the live After the Final Rose special that they intended to celebrate their wedding on television in January 2024.
Addressing their decision to tie the knot sooner rather than later, Gerry humorously shared, “We’re old! Consider this: In your 20s, you can wait a year, and it might only make up 3 percent of your remaining life. But when you’re in your 70s, a year could account for 10 percent or even 20 percent of the time you have left,” during an episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast in November 2023. Gerry was initially hesitant about remarriage following the passing of his first wife, Toni, in 2017. However, his experience on the show transformed his perspective, and he realized his desire for a lifelong commitment.
Prior to the broadcast of Gerry’s proposal, he confided in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in October 2023, “While I was dating before the show, I was searching for someone I could spend the rest of my life with, regardless of any labels. As I progressed through the show, I came to the realization that I truly wanted to be married, to have that commitment and mutual dedication. So, that became my objective.”
Once Gerry and Theresa’s engagement became public, they happily discussed their wedding plans. Theresa shared with People in December 2023, “Our daughters are heavily involved in the preparations. My daughter, who has witnessed countless weddings, has taken charge. She has created a vision board, constantly asking for my input. It’s amazing to see her handle everything with such expertise. She has really taken the lead.”
